Manjau, Local Trans Portrait Successful

About 35 kilometers from the capital city of Ketapang we will arrive in the village Manjau, Village Page Satong. This is one of the four villages Dayak people who entered the city of Ketapang; besides village Kepayang, Nek hooked and Kecurap. The existence of the Dayak people in this village are the result of the local diocese of Ketapang transmigration project. This village can be said to be an example of a successful local transmgrasi. Sunday (9/2) I was with Suharto, Jeno Leo and Anti-Paidin opportunity to meet with the residents of this Manjau.
Jalan di kampung Manjau
The existence of the local trans manjau began in 1972. At that time the Bishop of Ketapang, Mgr.GW Sillekens through Social Delegate (Delsos) made a number of projects, among others, agriculture and livestock projects in Manjau. There used to be agricultural and livestock training centers. The project is ongoing and began in 1981 are brought to Mali Dayak people from several villages in the district-Rod Hall Tarang Sanggau as local transmigration.
Church ManjauAccording to John Ujang, 66, a resident who came to the first trans Manjau, Manjau since their arrival to the requested party Ketapang diocese to teach people Manjau farming and gardening. He and other residents then took the child and wife. They were given land and free land in the forest. Because of this new life fun than the region of origin, they chose to live there until now.

Initially they were only 9 households. Then came another 21 heads of families with an average of bringing his wife and two children. Now their number reached 200 households, or about one thousand inhabitants. According to Sonny, their life enjoyable and better than the region of origin. "On behalf of the citizens of trans Manjau, I would like to thank the diocese of Ketapang that has brought us to Manjau. Although initially hard to live in a new area, but now we feel the success and life more well here, "said John Sonny told me in his home, in Manjau (10/2).
Manjau village can be used as an example of port local transmigration quite successful. In some places the local transmigration fail; especially those carried out by the government. Initially local people want to move to the area trance, but having his ration exhausted, they returned again to pedahasan / hamlets. Trans settlement was abandoned.
The success of this Manjau residents can take a look of permanent houses they have, vehicles, economic life and the ability to send their children to college.
Some of this year the company entered palm plantations and mines to the village area Manjau. Of course this will bring positive and negative impacts on the environment and society Manjau. Hopefully Manjau society increasingly developed and developing.***
